Jackson Square |
Part of the itinerary in the afternoon consisted of going to the various art gallery’s on Royal Street. One particular gallery that I stopped into was Lozano and Barbuti Gallery. The gallery manager told the story of the owners and how they came to owning the gallery today. Ricardo Lozano migrated to New Orleans to launch his art career starting on Jackson Square. Initially, he was not a successful artist trying to create what he thought the public wanted so he began to paint what he was interested in and his career launched. Now today Ricardo owns a gallery and is known all over the world. This particular instance just speaks to the testament of persevering atmosphere down here in New Orleans. Perseverance seems to radiate all over Jackson square and various parts of the French Quarter. Sticking to your individuality and trying to pursue your dreams is attainable if you put the hard work into it. I think we can all relate to Lozano’s story I know I can. Initially, I did not think I was cut out for nursing or that I would be smart enough to survive. After lots of encouragement and soul searching it became evident to me that nursing was my passion and nothing was going to stand in the way of that. Being down here in New Orleans and hearing that story has re-lit my passion/drive for what I am doing. It gives me the encouragement to keep going and not let anything stand in my way.
