Traveling comprises of different components that are sometimes overlooked. As a child it seems simplistic when you travel on vacation because your responsibilities are taken care of by your parent/guardian. As an adult you have to be concerned about every aspect of the trip, how you are getting there (i.e. transportation to airport/train station), what you are going to pack, and the financial aspect. Traveling to the train station became a null event when the idea of carpooling was given with my hotel mates. Carpooling and being dropped off at the train station allowed us to relax on the ride down versus having to be concerned with driving/navigating. After boarding the train it took quite a few hours to relax to the point of being able to fall asleep. Close to 20 years ago was the last time I took an overnight train trip out to the east coast so leading up to the trip I thought if I was able to do it then I can now. I was surprisingly wrong! Trying to sleep on a train as an adult is completely different than a child. As an adult you are used to the comforts of your bed to aide you in falling asleep and no matter how much you take with you on a train to create that same environment it just isn’t the same! The atmosphere on the train is very similar to how I remember it as a child which flooded back memories. Children are running around and enjoying the game of trying to stay upright while the train is moving while others are either playing games, on their cellphones/iPads, or sleeping.
